Two Honored As Elks Students Of The Month

A Pair Of TRIB-Area Students Are Lauded For Achievements

The Cozad Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Number 2250 has selected Cozad’s Abigail Cornelius and Hannah Anderson of Gothenburg as the recipients of the November Elks Teens of the Month accolades.
The pair of students have maintained superior academic portfolios at Cozad and Gothenburg throughout their high school campaigns.
Abigail is the daughter of Smoke and Deb Cornelius. Abigail maintains a 4.24 GPA at Cozad High School and her current GPA places her second overall out of 77 students in the CHS Senior class.
Abigail Cornelius has been a very busy student with participation in many student organizations and extracurricular activities to go along with her stellar performances in the classroom that has placed her on the Exemplary Honor Roll throughout her high school years.
Abigail has earned accolades and Cozad Community Scholastic Awards for her academics while excelling in Science and Math.
Cornelius was selected as the graduation attendant this past year for her efforts in the classroom.
Abigail was voted by her peers as one of the Homecoming Royalty finalists this past Fall.
During her freshmen and sophomore campaigns, Abby was involved in the FBLA program at Cozad High School.
She has very active as a member of the Cozad High School Pep Club for the past four years to earn Letterwinner status each year.
Doing her part to make Cozad a better place, Abigail has been involved in the Muscle Man Volleyball game as a volunteer since her sophomore year. Gail has been a competitor in the Powderpuff Football Showdown for all four years of her high school career.
Athletically, Abby has been involved in Golf, Basketball and cheerleading for all four years of high school.
Cornelius is a four year letter winner in Golf along with being a individual silver medalist as a Junior and being a key cog of the Lady Haymakers State Championship winning team this year.
Hannah is the daughter of Dale and Susan Anderson. Hannah maintains a 4.0 GPA while being a very active student in a variety of activities at Gothenburg High School. Anderson is currently ranked #1 in cumulative GPA in her Senior class of 72 students.
Superior grades have propelled Anderson to be on the All A’s Honor Roll throughout her four years of high school.
She has earned Outstanding Student honors in English, Chemistry and Calculus this past year as well.
Hannah is currently her classes Vice President and is a Student Council Representative. She is currently one of the Yearbook Editors and involved in Circle of Friends.
She is a two-year member of the Sigma Phi Beta chapter along with being on the Band Leadership Board.
In Band, Anderson is a four-year participant. She has earned the Band’s Focus Award the past two years.
Hannah is a four-year letterwinner for the Lady Swedes in Basketball as well as Track and Field most likely. Anderson is a three year letterwinner in Cross Country also.
“Hannah’s dedication, confidence, poise and infectious personality make her stand out as an individual,” stated Gothenburg Social Studies Instructor Kaitlyn Clark. Her passion and drive are among her best qualities.”
