TRIBUNE-Area Cheer and Dance Squads Bring Home Accolades from NCA State Championships

Cozad, Gothenburg and Lexington brought home accolades to be proud of while competing in the 2021 Nebraska Coaches Association (NCA) State Cheer and Dance Championships that were held in Grand Island this past week. 

In the Class C1 Game Day routines, the Lady Haymakers were third overall with a score of 77 and Gothenburg was eighth overall with a score of 70.25. 

Competing in the Class C1 Non-Tumbling event, Gothenburg was fourth overall with a score of 78.5. Cozad wasn't far behind with a score of 73.5. 

The Cozad Jazz Dance Team was 17th overall in the Class C1 Pom routine with a score of 68.65. The Jazz also had a Hip-Hop routine that they were able to finish ninth overall with, as a result of scoring 69.8 points. 

The Liberty Belles Dance squad of Lexington was able to earn a top five finish in the Class B High Kick competiton with a score of 72.68 good enough for fifth overall. The Belles were also able to finish fourth overall in the Class B Hip-Hop competition with a score of 74.7 points. 

The Lexington cheerleaders were able to score a sixth place finish in the Class B Game Day routine competition. The same group of Lexington cheerleaders were also able to finish third overall in the Class B Non-Tumbling competition.
