Ronald W. Olnhausen, age 89 of Omaha, formerly of Cozad, NE, entered into rest on March 3, 2022. Survived by wife Vicki, children Mary K Rhone (Kim), Debbie Hein (Gary), Laurie Baker (Mike), Chris Olnhausen (Tracy), David Shafer (Lisa), Tiffany Hodge (Troy), grandchildren Jasa Rhone (Katie), Mikayla Rhone, Adam Hein, Alec Hein, Carly Olnhausen, Mason Shafer, Cory Olnhausen, Sofia Shafer, Zach Hodge, Hayden Hodge, great-grandchildren Adrian Rhone, Juliette Rhone, brother-in-law Del Hoffer, sisters-in-law Bev Lemmers and Gloria Olnhausen, and first wife Barbara Olnhausen. Ron was born on April 16, 1932 to Louis and Lena (Larsen) Olnhausen and welcomed by older brother Robert. After Ron graduated from Cozad High in 1949, he pursued the field of medicine at Creighton University, specializing in internal medicine. During his time with Methodist Hospital, he served as a member of the Department of Medicine, Medical Administration Committee, Quality Assurance Committee, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors. Ron’s involvement with the Omaha Physicians’ Clinic lead to further opportunities as he served on the Board of Directors from 1973-1990, with other titles held including Occupational Health Director, Medical Director, Medical Review Officer, Associate Director of Methodist Business Health, and Chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine.

He kept in touch with his love of flying by maintaining an active pilots license and serving as an Aviation Medical Examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration. He kept active as an avid fly fisher, golfer at the Shadow Ridge club for 24 years, and was a dedicated exerciser at the JCC for 50 years.

He kept sharp with his crossword puzzles on his clipboard, any one of the three books he was reading at the time, and building 1/5th scale radio-controlled planes in his basement workshop. He paid it forward as a member of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay, where he spent time volunteering care for patients in Jamaica. While back in Omaha, he mentored residents of Boy’s Town in English and Math.

Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Papa, Ron, Ronnie, Oly. You will be deeply missed. Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, March 12th. For further information, contact Tiffany Hodge at 402-980-3284. Private burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Cozad on Sunday, March 13th at 11:00am.
